What is Charles Leopold Mayer Foundation?

ABOUT FPH
a foundation independence at the service of the public good
The Charles Léopold Mayer Foundation for the Progress of Humankind (FPH) was set up in 1982.
Established under Swiss law, it is managed by a Council comprising between seven and eleven members and by a General Manager who coordinates a
staff of about twenty employees.

Charles Léopold Mayer
scientist, investor, philosopher, philanthropist
The founder, Charles Léopold Mayer (1881-1971), a Frenchman with Irish roots, was a chemical engineer, a financier, and a humanist.
All his life, he made his fortune yield profits in view of putting them at the service of work of both a scientific and humanitarian nature.
He was one of those men, very representative of his generation, who believed in the progress of Humankind, which in his time was often associated with scientific and technological development.

a human adventure
built to last over the years
From the time it was instituted, the Foundation was designed as a lasting human adventure to be conducted over the years. Its strategy is therefore organized in multiannual stages. Every stage closes on a sabbatical period intended to evaluate the road traveled so far, and to define the following stage. The 2004-2010 period is its third stage.

our partners
organizations, institutions, and individuals sharing the same convictions
The Foundation has established links with more than ten thousand persons and organizations around the world. They are from very different spheres: family farmers, fishworkers, community residents, researchers, financiers, company executives, union leaders, journalists, philosophers, publishers, artists, civil servants, etc., the professional diversity of the Foundation’s partners being our primary asset.
Geographical diversity is equally essential and our contacts have been established in all the world’s continents, even if they are still too sparse in Asia, North America, and in the Arab countries.
